Will Brad Pitt Finally Get That Acting Oscar He Deserves For Once Upon A Time In Hollywood?

Will Brad Pitt Finally Get That Acting Oscar He Deserves For 'Once Upon A Time In Hollywood'_ Source: Vanity Fair Once Upon A Time In Hollywood just gave Quentin Tarantino the biggest opening weekend of his career, as the film raked in over $40 million during its first three days in theaters. And, the performances from stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt really have fans and critics talking. Could this mean that Pitt will finally win an acting Oscar for his role as Hollywood stunt double Cliff Booth?

The critically-acclaimed film is set in Los Angeles during the winter and summer of 1969, and it tells the story of fading TV star Rick Dalton (DiCaprio) and his longtime stunt double. However, the plot doesn’t just focus on how the entertainment industry is changing – it also intertwines with the famous Charles Manson murders.

Tarantino’s ninth film features a large ensemble cast and numerous storylines as it pays tribute to the end of Hollywood’s Golden Age, and there is no doubt that critics are loving every minute of it because it shares “inner details of obscure Hollywood lore,” says box office analyst Jeff Bock.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the two-hour-and-41-minute film is already guaranteed to get attention during awards season. Los Angeles Oscar voters filled the 1010-seat Samuel Goldwyn Theatre over the weekend for the Academy’s official membership screening, and they even had to turn people away.

Because of this, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has decided to add an additional screening, and that doesn’t happen very often.

Tarantino already has two screenwriting Oscars to his credit, one for Pulp Fiction and the other for Django Unchained. And, DiCaprio has a Best Actor Oscar for his role in The Revenant. But, Pitt has not won an acting Oscar yet.

The big question is how Pitt and DiCaprio will campaign for awards. Will they both go for lead actor (which they both are), or will they avoid competing against each other and have DiCaprio campaign for Lead Actor and Pitt for Supporting Actor?

A Sony executive says that they haven’t figured out the campaign plans for the actors just yet. But, it is clear that they will be campaigning for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood to get a Best Picture nomination for Tarantino.
